Waves

Picture curtsy of Sarah Abbot Photography.

Psalm 93:4 (NIV)
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea – The LORD on high is mighty.

Proverbs 30:4 (NIV)
Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and the name of his son?
Tell me if you know!

You know when you go out into the ocean for the first time and you swim out as far as you can? You just simply float there as wave after wave after wave crashes over you. Some waves even seem determined to drown you. But you come up for air only to find the sky and water more brilliant then before. It is almost more then you can take. It is so amazing that you can't make yourself swim back in. That is what life as a Christian is like. It is not always easy, it doesn’t always feel safe, but it is amazing. Once you give yourself over to it completely, and if you allow yourself to be totally immersed, you will find it difficult to ever swim back to the safety of shore.
